Bassist Lou Panico Hospitalized After Attempting To Stop Car Hijacking

Bassist Lou Panico Hospitalized  After Attempting To Stop Car Hijacking… On August 23rdSocratic bassist, Lou Panico, displayed a true effort of heroism when he attempted to halt a car hijacking in the parking lot of his local New Jersey Guitar Center, two days before the band’s “Lunch For The Sky” vinyl re-release show.  After an effort to stop the thief, Panico was struck by the driver and ran over by the stolen vehicle. The bass player sustained severe injuries to his left leg, but is on the road to recovery after intensive surgery.

Panico stresses that, while healing from surgery (four screws and a metal rod were needed to repair the damage), the band will not be slowing down any time soon. He plans to attend Socratic’s next show in New York City on September 15th at The Bitter End, even though he will have to sit for the performance.

Panico says, “Worst things have happened to us. We always persevere. I don’t care if I have to be on a gurney throughout the entire set, I’ll be there.”
Socratic signed to Drive-Thru Records releasing Lunch for the Sky in 2005 with their viral hit title track ‘Lunch For The Sky’. In December 2006, Socratic released a free 5-track EP entitled Just Turn. Their next full-length album entitled Spread The Rumors(produced by Mark Hoppus of Blink182) hit the shelves on May 6, 2008, featuring the songs ‘Boy in a Magazine’, and ‘May I Bum a Smoke’.
Following the demise of Drive-Thru Records, Socratic self-produced their 2012 release, “Socratic (The Album). You can purchase Socratic’s digital discography on iTunes here: http://bit.ly/STz4hR.

Socratic released Lunch For The Sky and Socratic (The Album) on vinyl on August 25th.
