The London Bass Guitar Show

The London Bass Guitar Show… With the weekend fast approaching we are furiously packing flightcases and making final preparations for The London Bass Guitar Show which is back this coming Saturday and Sunday at The Olympia Conference Centre in Central London.

The show promotes the art of playing bass to the general public, satisfying and exciting a demand that clearly exists.

UK bass players will have the opportunity to observe first-hand the latest products and gear, watch the world’s top players in action and attend master-classes and clinics, all under one roof. Your ticket gives access to everything for the day.

Previous shows have included bass playing luminaries such as Mark King, TM Stevens, Doug Wimbish and Stu Hamm.

Bass icons Jah Wobble and Mo Foster will be shaking hands, meeting and greeting on the Rotosound Stand – D11 over the two day period.

Jah Wobble was responsible for the dub-quake bass lines which were the human heart beat in Public Image Ltd.’s (PiL) Dread Disco. Since his time with PiL he has been a highly successful solo artist and collaborator – his was the bass on the huge hit ‘Visions Of You’ by Sinead O’Connor. More recently he has been working with PiL’s guitarist Keith Levene, appearing together at a number of concerts and releasing an EP late 2012. He uses Rotosound Tru Bass RS88LD strings to help create his earth shattering tones.

Legendary session bass player Mo Foster has played on over 350 recordings with artists including Phil Collins, Ringo Starr, Peter Green, Meat Loaf, Gary Moore and the list goes on and on! His has been equally prolific on tour, playing bass alongside Sting, Cliff Richard, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck as well as working on many famous film soundtracks including several Bond movies and The Revenge of the Pink Panther! His solo career includes releasing over five albums and he’s recently been archivist/interviewer on the UK Channel 4 series Live From Abbey Road. Mo uses Rotosound Swing Bass RS66LD strings.

Jah Wobble will be on our stand on Saturday 2nd March 2013 between 3.30pm and 4.30pm and Mo will be on the stand at1.00pm on both days. Also in attendance will be Alex Lofoco who is about to embark on his 2013 European Bass Clinic Tour(for more on this click here) and Eric Rupert. Make sure you come and see us to check out Rotosound products and tak e advantage of special show promotions as well as entering our show special prize draw – more on that below!

Courtesy of the very nice people at G&L Guitars we are delighted to be able to offer this rather cool L-2000 bass guitar as the featured prize in our show special prize draw. If you are visiting the show all you need to do to be in with a chance of owning said guitar is head to our stand D11, say hi to a member of our team and fill in an entry form. A lucky winner will be picked from the proverbial hat on Monday March 4th and will be duly notified of their good fortune, the guitar will be despatched with our compliments soon thereafter.

This fine instrument is finished in Blueburst over a Swamp Ash body with Maple fingerboard and a clear satin neck finish, and desperately needs a good home.

Been there, yesterday – visit my Twitter profile for some pictures.

Lovely atmosphere, lots and lots of amazing basses, amps, pedals and whatever we need to perform, and as usual lots and lots of bass players showing off their chops hehehe 🙂

Before leaving the Olympia Conference Centre I purchased a Reading Music book (advanced level) from Stuart Clayton’s Bassline Publishing. Seems nice, I’m definitely gonna use it with my students.

And definitely props to Guy Pratt!
