Carl Fischer Music Publishes Daily Grooves for Bass Book and CD by Patrick Pfeiffer
Carl Fischer Music leaves traditional bass exercise books behind with Daily Grooves for Bass (GT214 – $19.95), a volume of daily grooves for intermediate to advanced students by New York City composer and bass educator Patrick Pfeiffer. Rather than resorting to standard, typical exercises, bass players can step up their chops by practicing pro-level grooves worthy of any seasoned bassist’s repertoire. Each groove is limited to one or two measures and then repeats, just like many bass grooves in real performance situations. Daily Grooves for Bass spans a range of different keys and feels, like shuffle feel, sixteenth-note feel, triplet feel, and more! All grooves are notated in standard format with TAB files available on the enclosed CD, which also includes MP3 files of each. Players will not only improve their technique, but also build up an impressive library of sophisticated and inspiring bass grooves.
Patrick Pfeiffer is a professional bassist, composer, and bass teacher in New York City. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in jazz studies from the New England Conservatory of Music. Pfeiffer’s solo CD Fruits and Nuts (recorded with his groupPhoenix) earned stellar reviews and a recommendation from Bass Player magazine. He is also the author of Bass Guitar for Dummies and Improve Your Groove. Pfeiffer also co-owns Bass Remedies, Inc, which runs a website dedicated to helping bass players enhance their abilities (www.bassremedies.com).
