Meet Reviewer Damian Erskine ~

Roy Vogt

“Teach Me Bass Guitar” (www.teachmebassguitar.com)

While I normally only review CDs, I was sent a full copy of Roy Vogt’s new 10 disc DVD instructional series, “Teach Me Bass Guitar” and had to tell a few of you about it.

While there are a lot of great instructional DVDs out there, the tapes/discs that I’ve seen that were geared towards the beginning student have never really either gone deep enough, started early enough in development or, were just generally lacking in some way.

I believe Roy’s series to be the ultimate DVD series for the beginning bassist!

While advanced players may not find a wealth of useful information here, any student just starting is given the information they need to develop a solid foundation and then some.  The information is laid out in an incredibly easy to understand way and the production is top-shelf with great diagrams, animated fretboards, play-along video sessions and Roy’s easy to understand, plain English explanations.

While some may consider it to be a bit pricey ($187.50 as of the time of this review) you must consider the full spectrum of what you’re purchasing.  This could easily replace any number of instructional videos I have collecting dust in my basement.  Not to sound like a sales pitch, but you get 10 full DVD’s of material.  He really covers the spectrum and gives you everything you need to get the job done properly.  The only thing missing is the students own motivation and time to practice.

Definitely a must buy for the beginning bass student serious about learning the ropes.
