Essential Sound Products’ president Michael Griffin comments “We’re very honored that Victor Wooten and Gerald Veasley would choose to put their name on our power cords. They are two of the most accomplished and admired bassists in the world both for their amazing artistry and personal integrity. Because both artists have used our power cords for years, I know that having a Signature model is a natural outgrowth of each artist’s belief in the product and support they have already given. It’s appropriate that the first Signature power cords feature bassists as the bass community in particular has embraced our products from the start.”
Victor Wooten is known is an innovator, composer, arranger lecturer, producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. He is a skilled naturalist and teacher, a published author, a magician, husband and father of four, and a five-time Grammy award winner. Known for his solo recordings and tours, and as a member of the super group Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, Victor has won most every major award given to a bass guitarist. He has been voted “Bassist of the Year” by Bass Player Magazine three times and is the only person to have won the award more than once. Victor’s uncanny skills and growing popularity lead to recordings and performances with artists such as Brantford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Bruce Hornsby, Chick Corea, Dave Matthews, Prince, Keb Mo, Gov’t Mule, Susan Tedeschi, Vital Tech Tones (with Scott Henderson and Steve Smith), the Jaco Pastorius Word Of Mouth Big Band, and the soundtrack of the Disney film Country Bears. He also spearheaded the idea for the super group SMV (Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten).
Gerald Veasley has been voted “Best Electric Bassist” by Jazziz Magazine and named in both Downbeat Magazine’s Critics’ and Readers’ Polls. Fans and fellow musicians appreciate Gerald for his virtuosity and soulful approach to music making. He had long and fruitful associations with Grover Washington, Jr. and Joe Zawinul, not only touring and recording with these two masters, but also contributing songs to their repertoire. Though Gerald is known as a contemporary jazz musician, the versatile bassist has never been content working in one genre. He has worked with R&B legend Gerald Levert, jazz diva Nnenna Freelon, the soulful Teddy Pendergrass, gospel icons The Dixie Hummingbirds, straight ahead piano giant McCoy Tyner and many other diverse artists. His latest release “Electric Mingus Project”, a tribute to the great jazz bassist Charles Mingus, showcases Gerald’s talents as an artist, arranger and songwriter.
MusicCord power cords are based upon a patented multiple-conductor cordage design that replaces a single line or neutral conductor with several smaller conductors. This design eliminates improves transient response and eliminates phase distortions. MusicCord power cords are heavily shielded to provide quiet backgrounds by blocking RFI and containing the strong magnetic field that surrounds the cordage so it does not cause distortions in nearby signal carrying cables.
