Aussie Band Oceanics to Release New EP with Bassist Tom Garnett
Aussie Band, Oceanics, to Release New EP with Bassist Tom Garnett… Queensland, Australia – April 2, 2012 – The Aussie quartet, Oceanics, will be releasing their new EP, Bright People, on May 15th. Imprinting their own style on Brit-Pop, they bring their big hollow guitars and clean, jangling tones to the ears of the uninitiated. Produced by Australian producer/engineer Wayne Connolly (The Vines, Cloud Control, Boy & Bear), this release will have you dancing your way into Summer 2012.
9th grade classmates, Elliot Weston (guitar & vocals) and Jackson Haswell (guitar & vocals), began writing together in 2005. The introduction of percussionistAndy Geisel soon after initiated years of practicing together within the walls of the groups makeshift loft, all while flaming the hunger within the band to hit the scene. Late 2009 saw the cementing of bassist Tom Garnett’s position, and early 2010 saw Oceanics’ live debut.
Since then the enigmatic four-piece have seen great international success. They have performed at Australia’s renowned Big Day Out 2011 and BIGSOUND Music Conference, supported US pop Quartet “The Like”, performed with “Michi” on MTV Japan, as well as playing a plethora of shows from Sydney to Melbourne and back. Oceanics has also acquired sync’s for both Quiksilver Pro Series and Fox 8’s program “SLiDE”, as well as gaining great radio support on Australia’s youth radio network, Triple J.
Working their way into the US music scene, Haswell tells us, “Bright People has marked change and maturity to not only our sound but as a band as a whole, it’s the real beginning of Oceanics”.
Oceanics will release Bright People on May 15th. Please go to www.Facebook.com/Oceanics.music for more updates.
