Ibanez Introduces SR256PW, an Addition to their 6-String SR Model
Ibanez Introduces SR256PW, an Addition to their 6-String SR Model… Ibanez, the leader in six-string basses, has introduced an addition to their famous SR models, the SR256PW. By combining the hallmarks of the SR line with their knowledge of 6-string technology, Ibanez’s goal was to bring a 6-string bass to market that would put a “six” within the reach of any bassist who wanted one.
The technical obstacle to building a highly playable 6-string bass is the increased tension to the neck from the extra strings. But if you know anything about the SR’s 25-year history, then you know that Ibanez has always surpassed the competition with thin, playable necks that perform with rock solid stability. The SR256PW features a maple 3-piece neck in combination with a mahogany body, resulting in a clear and tight tone with plenty of fullness to the bottom. Like SRs costing much more, the SR256PW is surprisingly light-weight, with a superbly balanced, comfortable body. Its rich, well-balanced tone is due in large part to the arched construction of its CAP EXF-N2 pickups. The EQB-IIID 3-band eq offers a wide variety of useful tonal shadings.
