BASS and VOICE: Andreas Farmakalidis and Alexis Lopez at the Floyd Rose/Brubaker bass Booth
American Idol finalist Alexis Lopez and Andreas Farmakalidis, with his educated know-how (Berklee College of Music and others) and major-act touring/recording experience, held a unique voice and bass performance at the Floyd Rose/Brubaker Booth the weekend of NAMM 2013. Performing pop tunes as well as originals that were organically arranged for the sole inclusion of just bass and voice by this duo. This collaboration was definitely outside the norm; with only two people, two loop pedals, on the spot stacked bass grooves and live vocals resulted into a captivating improvisation. This small-turned big booth performance was also a draw for other musicians to not only watch but to join-in as well.
Alexis Lopez, at 17 years old, was a finalist as well as a wild card competitor in the first season of the renowned show American Idol of FOX broadcasting Company in the United States. Since then, Alexis toured with several major acts at well-known venues such us the MGM Grand, Universal Amphitheater, Gibson Theater among many others across the US and Canada. Despite performing, Alexis is also a prominent vocal producer, vocal coach and songwriter. She has already written songs for several artists and charity groups as well as her own material, which will be included in her upcoming album.
Andreas Farmakalidis is a professional performing musician, published musical author as well as educator with national as well as international touring experience. He is primarily known as an electric bass player. He was fortunate enough to record and/or perform with notable musicians such as Grammy award winning guitar player Marty Friedman Megadeth, Ayaka Hirahara, Aika, NeilaProductions, American Idol as well as Greek Idol and X-Factor artists among many others.
