Upton Bass String Instrument Co. Wins Two Awards at the International Society of Bassists Show
Congratulations to Upton Bass String Instrument Co., who won two awards at the International Society of Bassists Show!
In early June of 2013, Gary Upton and Eric Roy of Upton Bass String Instrument Co. , loaded up the truck with basses vintage and new and drove west to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY for the International Society of Bassists Bi-annual convention.
Of the many hand-crafted Upton Bass models that came with them (including a fully carved UB Mittenwald, UB Brescian and a copy of a c.1760 Rogeri), they selected a UB Karr Deluxe 4/4 Carved Double Bass to enter in the maker’s competition, where it went up against other instruments by the some of the world’s finest bass builders. 
The result was two awards: a Certificate of Merit for Double Bass Workmanship and Convention Favorite Honorable Mention.
These, coupled with the Silver Award for Tone in the 2009 convention, give Upton Bass a trio of accolades for craftsmanship and sound on the world’s biggest double bass making stage!
