As part of their recent European Tour, the Carl Verheyen Band, featuring premier bassist Stu Hamm and drummer Jason Harrison Smith, visited the Institute, to give an exclusive performance and masterclass for students.
They performed a mixture of songs demonstrating Carl’s expert guitar skills alongside Stu’s grooving bass lines, and shared their industry knowledge and experiences – of which they have many from their longstanding musical careers. They also answered a myriad of questions from the students who were keen to learn from such successful performers.
Both artists have visited the Institute before and were thrilled to return, Carl commented: “As a touring musician I’ve found it very heart-warming to come to a place like the Institute in London and see the enthusiasm of the young instrumentalists and vocalists. After 42 years in the music business, I consider it a privilege to pass the knowledge on to the next generation….especially when they are as eager and willing as the students at the Institute.”
