Chris Gramazio Releases Freebassing
Freebassing, the debut instrumental album from bassist/songwriter Chris Gramazio, grinds through the world of sci-fi post-rock with a fresh four-string perspective.
Featuring a sinewy rebirth of bass-heavy grooves parsed through funky twists and turns and a dash of electronica, Freebassing is a nod to the instrumentals of the past while inhaling deeply from today’s music climate.
Freebassing with Chris Gramazio was independently released on March 27, 2015 worldwide and is available for digital download through various music outlets including iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, and Google Play, and is accessible for streaming through Spotify and Soundcloud.
Recorded at Studio at the Farm in Gilbert, Arizona, the songs of Freebassing are written, arranged and composed by bass guitarist Chris Gramazio with additional writing and performance credited to KC Barras and Jesse Morrison of CooBee Coo (Fervor Records). The album was produced by Chris Gramazio, KC Barras, and Jesse Morrison, and mastered by Michael Fossenkemper (Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock).
“Taking great inspiration from Jeff Beck’s Blow by Blow and Wired, Billy Sheehan and Terry Bozzio’s Nine Short Films, Battles’ Mirrored, Chris Squire’s Fish Out of Water, and the eclectic world of EDM, I deeply knew what I was trying to deliver,” said Chris Gramazio.
Chris Gramazio’s 30-year music career has taken him from New York to Los Angeles to the desert of Arizona. Gramazio’s name has twice been mentioned in Bass Player Magazine with a nod to his melodic approach, and he has played at renown venues on both the East and West coasts. Gramazio’s past projects have also been included in soundtracks for television programs including Fox’s Freaky Links, the WB’s Roswell, various MTV programs, and featured on Canada’s Much Music (now Fuse).
