Jan-Olof Strandberg’s collaborative concert project with Cameroonian Armand Sabal-Lecco will be released on CD by Seacrest oy www.seacrestoy.com. This live album is collaboration between two bass players; Armand Sabal-Lecco and Jan-Olof Strandberg.

Sabal-Lecco came to worldwide attention on account of collaborating with Paul Simon in the early 1990s. He has worked with such giants as Sewart Copeland, Stanley Clarke, Don Grusin, Ringo Starr, Peter Gabriel and Lionel Richie. Today he is a member of Al Di Meola’s “Elegant Gypsy” tour and Robert Trujillo’s group Mass Mental. Jan-Olof Strandberg’s idea has been to invite musicians all over the world from different musical genres to create some new and fresh music together within the framework of the Strandberg Project. Some of the past guests that the project has seen include Mel Gaynor, Dominique Di Piazza, Michael Manring, Paul Jackson, James LoMenzo and Mikinori Fujiwara

“With this music we wanted to create a mix between Armand Sabal-Leccos rich musical background that is everything from traditional African music to American funk, reggae & jazz with our north-European way of playing and improvising”.

Besides of Armand Sabal-Lecco & Jan-Olof Strandberg the band includes some of the finest musicians in the world! Jukka Gustavson is a legendary keyboard player, well-known for his solo projects and the group Wigwam.

Sami Virtanen’s roots are more in the Rock world of but fit this project well. His musicality shines through on this recording. Jartsa Karvonen is one of the most recorded drummers in Finland; on this recording you will find out why!
