Cypriot Bassist Oytun Ersan Releases First Jazz Fusion Album, East Meets West…
Cypriot bassist, composer, conductor and educator Oytun Ersan announces the release of his first Jazz Fusion album East Meets West which features some special guests like the exceptional trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, soloist and trumpeter virtuoso Prof. Rex Richardson and award winning Jazz Fusion guitarist Okan Ersan. The album presents a unique combination of East and West ethnic melodies and is mainly based on Funk and Ethnic Jazz.
Oytun Ersan is an official artist endorser for some top companies like Fodera Guitars, MarkBass and GruvGear. His story deserves to be heard around the globe and no wonder why his music is unlike anything you have ever heard. ‘‘I was raised with Eastern melodies in an area of conflict which acted as a bridge between the Eastern and Western civilizations throughout history; the only capital city in the world that still remains divided’’ Ersan said. ‘‘It was inevitable for me to separate the two in my compositions’’. Oytun Ersan Project came to life in 2011 and gathered some influential musicians from the East and Western part of the world in an attempt to push beyond the conventional boundaries of Jazz Fusion.
Oytun Ersan Project has performed at many international festivals and venues in Cyprus and Turkey and is looking to expand its destinations in the upcoming months to celebrate the release of its debut album.
