Steely Dan Collection Bass Transcriptions by Aidan Hampson
Another great release from Aidan Hampson is the Steely Dan Collection.
I’ve really enjoyed playing through the tunes and while the bass always grooves in a Steely Dan tune, that doesn’t mean it is necessarily easy. All of the tunes can be found on various Steely Dan releases, (or all of them, with the exception of Aja), can be found on A Decade of Steely Dan.
From baselines created by such great bassists as Walter Becker and Chuck Rainey, you just can’t go wrong. No matter what style of music you are into, this will be a groove workshop for sure.
Thirteen tunes are included from releases back in 1972, such as, “Can’t Buy a Thrill”, 1975’s “Countdown to Ecstasy”, “Katy Red” and 1974’s “Pretzel Logic”, among others.
Transcribed songs include: Do It Again, Reelin’ In The Years, Bodhisattva, My Old School, Rikki Don’t Lose That Number, Bad Sneakers, Kid Charlemagne, Aja, Deacon Blues, Peg, FM (No Static at All), Babylon Sisters, and Hey Nineteen.
