Paul Gilbert
String virtuoso Paul Gilbert has been one of the top ten guitarists in the world for decades. He already recorded a considerable back catalogue in his life – from Speed Metal with Racer X to and electric drill attacks to ballads with Mr. Big. Nor enough, his various solo releases that are highly praised by critics, he is a sought-after lecturer and teacher and together with Ibanez, a much sought-after guitar designer.
We are very excited and proud to welcome Paul at the Guitar Summit 2019! Paul Gilbert will give workshops, perform live with band at our Electric Party on Saturday evening and also be available for an exclusive masterclass and autograph sessions.
Billy Sheehan
This outstanding rock bass player has truly earned his place in music history several times already: Billy Sheehan, born in 1953, has played with Talas, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, G3, Winery Dogs and Sons Of Apollo and supported guitar colleagues like Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani, Richie Kotzen and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal – much more can hardly be achieved as a musician!
With his distorted bass sound and high-speed playing, Billy has also influenced countless rock bassists and put the bass in the spotlight of rock music. Billy’s extremely complex amp and effects setups have always caused a stir: starting in the 80s with fridge-sized racks full of 19″ effects and preamps, through slimmer pedal setups to the latest version, where Billy programmed his complete setup into a Line 6 helix. His legendary Yamaha Attitude Bass has also been on the market for almost 30 years.
Look forward to Billy Sheehan at the Guitar Summit 2019! Billy will give a public work-shop, be on stage at the Electric Party on Saturday night and also offer an exclusive masterclass.
Henrik Freischlader
After numerous experiments, whether in a trio or with an eight-piece international big band, Henrik Freischlader now returns to where it all began for him – to the blues! And he takes the Blues to the Guitar Summit. One of biggest German and also internationally successful top stars of the blues scene will give a workshop, also a master class at the Guitar Summit Academy. Expect a hot show with Henrik and his band at the Electric Party on Saturday evening!
Carl Carlton
Guitarist, songwriter, producer, musical director … There’s nothing he hasn’t done successfully yet… And the list of those he has worked with ranges from Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, Herman Brood, Vitesse, Manfred Mann’s Earthband to Robert Palmer, Keb’ Mo’, Eric Burdon and Mother’s Finest and can be continued endlessly. With his own band called The Songdogs Carl will be touring again in October.
We are happy that he takes a short break from the rehearsals for this tour to give a workshop and a masterclass at the Guitar Summit! Topics will be production, songwriting and open tunings.
Udo Pipper
Vintage instrument expert and Gitarre&Bass author Udo Pipper demonstrates the sound of legendary Gibson and Fender instruments from the 50s and 60s in his workshop “Vintage vs. Present” and compares these guitars with high-quality replicas of today. Are the old instruments really so much better or just artifacts for the collector’s showcase? In addition there are lots of sound examples and anecdotes. Old and new Les Pauls and Stratocasters are in Udo’s luggage for sure…
Peter Finger
Peter Finger is an acoustic guitarist, guitar builder and publisher of the magazine ‘Akustik Gitar-re’. With his music he achieves the perfect harmony of virtuosity, musicality and composition. The attentive listener will always come across the sound language of Debussy, Ravel or Stravinsky – and at the same time finds himself in rocky regions, seducing to “string leaps” into the wide world of jazz. Peter Finger will give more detailed insights into his playing at the Guitar Summit, where he will give a workshop and a master class.
Marcus Deml
At last year’s Guitar Summit, the German blues giant Marcus Deml inspired audiences with his sophisticated technique, refreshing joy of playing and very illuminating insights into the career and everyday life of a professional exceptional musician.
The tickets for this year´s two masterclasses were sold out within a very short time

Build your own tube amps
Under the expert guidance of Stephan Mayer (Tube-Amp-Doctor), we are this year offering four course participants the exclusive opportunity to build their own amplifiers on an absolute boutique level, independently and with their own hands.
The course is spread over two days and takes place on Friday, 27.09. and Saturday, 28.09., from 10:00-16:00. The presale for the TAD-Masterclass starts in calender week 24 over the TAD online shop. The required tools will be provided by the Doc.
The package for € 1699 includes all necessary components so that the amplifier is ready to play at the end of the course. Each amplifier will be VDE-tested after completion. The participants can either take their self-built amps directly with them or have them sent to them by TAD.
Build your own FX pedals
Due to the great success last year and the high demand you have the possibility to build pedals under competent guidance again in 2019.
After a short introduction by Sweden’s pedal guru Albin Roslund (Moody Sounds), you will go straight to the soldering iron: You transform a circuit board and a handful of small parts into a stage-ready and individual effect pedal. No previous knowledge or background knowledge is required, apart from a little patience and logical thinking.
The pedal is assembled under professional, English-speaking guidance in a small group of 10 people. Approx. 3-4 hours are scheduled for the assembly.
Please note: Due to the limited number of participants we recommend a quick registration.
The following pedals will be available: BJF Analog Reverb, Carlin Compressor, BYOC Analog Chorus, Lehle P-Split, Moody Fuzz, BYOC Germanium Boost, BYOC Octave Fuzz, BYOC Tremolo Moody Overdrive.
Build a Guitar or Bass
Together with the guys from Kirstein you will build your personal instrument in the workshop from 9:30-17:00 under expert guidance. Anyone can participate – you don’t need any previous knowledge!
The basis for your new favourite guitar is on of the various Rocktile electric guitar and electric bass kits, which Musikhaus Kirstein have put together for you. You can choose from many different designs and order it via our DIY site: www.guitarsummit.de/diy. You don’t have to worry about more than that, because the nice guys from Musikhaus Kirstein will not only bring you the kit of your choice, they will also have all the tools you need for the workshop.
You can expect a workshop that is a lot of fun and doesn’t overwhelm anyone! Only the finishing, i.e. the varnishing of your guitar, will unfortunately not be possible during the workshop due to lack of time. However, Kirstein’s experts will be happy to give you some really good tips on how to finish your work at home.
The DIY-Workshop takes place on Sunday, 29.09.2019, from 9:30-17:00 in the DIY-Area of the Guitar Summit and is limited to 8 participants, so that the Kirstein professionals can take care of every workshop participant perfectly.
Modifying FX pedals with Lehle
Problems with a defective foot switch? How about a high quality Lehle Switch BTN, the silent switch that you can press at least a million times?
Contact Lehle and find out if your effect pedal is suitable for modification. At the Guitar Summit, you can then modify your pedal with professional assistance from a Lehle technician.
Acoustic & Electric Party
What would an event like Guitar Summit be without live music? And so, on both Friday and Saturday night, after a day of ogling and trying out the coolest new products, we have a party with live music! While it gets loud and electric on the Friday, on Saturday it’s all about acoustic guitar.
Acoustic Party
The first one will be fingerstyle virtuoso and singer-songwriter Petteri Sariola, who impressed our audience with his brilliant live performance last year. Petteri is known for his wonderful songwriting and his percussive playing style on the acoustic guitar.
Alexandr Misko and Janek Pentz are visiting us this year as part of the Guitar Summit Unplugged Tour.
Alex without doubt is one of the most sought-after fingerstyle guitarists in the last two years. Not least his numerous gigs, which are distributed around almost the whole world, show this. Most recently, the 21-year-old exceptional guitarist from Russia played a long and very successful China tour. In 2016 his debut album was released on CD, exclusively with his own compositions. Since the end of December 2017 his current album is available. Another one with popular cover songs is only available via online download. Alex is currently reaching more than 46 million views on his YouTube channel.
The young Polish composer and guitarist Janek Pentz combines all his musical influences in the fingerstyle. They range from hard rock music to gentle classical music. He was a laureate of many prestigious competitions. His music consists on the one hand of fast and dynamic harmonies, on the other hand also of calm and peaceful passages, an effect of his thoroughly philosophical reflections. Janek accompanied guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel during his tour of Poland in 2017 and has already shared the stage with many international artists.
The Warsaw Fingerstyle Festivalis one of the biggest acoustic music and guitar festivals in Poland. The festival includes a YouTube contest. The winner will not only play at the festival, but will also be on stage on Friday evening.
Electric Party
Also for the Saturday evening we have arranged again a high-class program. We are very happy to welcome the dream team Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan. They have more than earned their place in the history of rock and will ignite an unforgettable sound firework at our Electric Party.
Last year’s visitors will definitely remember the concert of Marcus Deml and his blues rock formation The Blue Poets. With their classic-organic sound and earthy, authentic and rousing blues and classic rock à la Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King and Deep Purple, the guys will be on stage again this year.
