Brett Simons Signature Model Steel Top Bass by James Trussart
James Trussart Custom Guitars introduces the Brett Simons Signature Model Steel Top Bass
Brett Simons is the bassist and vocalist for the band Chicago. Before joining the band in 2017, Brett’s diverse path as a bassist found him touring and recording with a number of legendary artists, including Brian Wilson, Melissa Etheridge, Dwight Yoakam, and Fiona Apple, to name just a few.
James’ and Brett’s longtime personal and professional friendship has been the impetus for many instrument prototypes, culminatIng in the Brett Simons Signature Model Steel Top Bass.
The core of the instrument is a honeycomb chambered Swamp Ash or driftwood Pine body designed by James with input from Brett Simons.
The neck shape and contour are based on one of Brett’s favorite vintage basses – somewhere between a “C” and “U” shape – and offered in a choice of Maple fingerboard on Maple or Pau Ferro fingerboard on Maple.
The electronics are built around strategically placed BC format Aguilar or Nordstrand soapbar pickups that feed into classic 60’s style concentric volume and passive tone controls, wired into a switchable Aguilar or Nordstrand 2-band active preamp/EQ. The independent passive tone for each pickup remains in-line when the preamp is engaged, allowing for a myriad of tonal options on the stage and in the studio.
