Last May 20 we lost one of the greatest bass players of all time, the amazing and virtuoso Randy Coven.
He died at age 54. Coven was a versatile bass player who worked with musicians like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Leslie West, Blues Saraceno, Al Pitrelli, Zakk Wylde, etc.
The New York bassist was also a very talented composer, a solo artist, a producer and a columnist for GUITAR For The Practicing Musician Magazine. He has three albums as a soloist: Funk Me Tender(1990); Sammy Says Ouch!(1990) and Witch Way(2002).
Below I have for you several grooves from his outstanding debut album “Funk Me Tender.”
Enjoy the great bass playing of Randy Coven!
