www.myspace.com/philturcioDAMN!   That was the first word out of my mouth when the first track hit.  The album does smooth out a bit after track 1, but there is no lack of burning playing on here.  (You may remember my review of Ric Fierabracci’s “Hemispheres” album featuring Phil and Joel Rosenblatt).  Ric can be heard on a few tracks here as well as additional bass work from Craig Newman.  Oh, but it doesn’t end there, we also get Will Kennedy, Gary Meek and Dave Weckl (track 5 and it’s killin!).  Needless to say, the playing is stellar, the tunes are well conceived and there is much to dig into here.  Overall I’d say this is a fusion album ala Dave Weckl Band but with a peek in the window of a more sensitive side as well.  The slamming tracks on here will take your head off but when he brings us down, we’re reminded of just what wonderful musicians these are.  Chops are one thing, but Phil displays a wonderful harmonic sensibility and some lovely melodies as well (as does EVERYONE involved here).  There is a little bit for everyone here.
