This is fairly astounding to me. Fito Garcia made an album of Afro-Cuban music with nothing but multiple bass tracks, percussion and four singers… and it’s REALLY good!! I won’t say that I don’t miss the piano and horn sections, but this music is really solid and the playing is great! With harmonized bass melodies, chords and great (actual) bass playing, this CD plays like a solid Afro-cuban release. It’s a nice statement of what the bass can do musically WITHOUT sounding like another of “those” bass albums. You’ll actually want to listen to this one! Real music… just happens to be loaded to the gills with bass!
