Shaun Cooper of the Rock band Taking Back Sunday is now endorsing Kustom® bass amplifiers. Cooper is using the company’s Deep End® bass rig, consisting of a 300-watt, hybrid-tube amp head with two DE810H speaker cabinets.

Cooper, who joined the band in late 2000 and performed on the hit album “Tell All Your Friends,” left the group with guitarist/vocalist John Nolan in 2003 to form the group Straylight Run. Both rejoined Taking Back Sunday earlier this year and just completed a U.S. mini-reunion tour.

The Kustom gear held up great, even in adverse conditions,” reported Cooper. “Our show at Irving Plaza had to be the hottest and most humid show I’ve ever played. I’ve had other heads overheat and cut out in shows not nearly as bad. This DE300HD was a workhorse and not affected in the least.”

“The DE300HD is very rich – that little tube makes a world of difference,” added Cooper. “The guys in the band are very happy with the classic look of the Deep End line, too. I’ve used Kustom heads and cabinets for years. The Deep End line is an giant step forward in the evolution of this classic brand.”

Taking Back Sunday is currently writing songs and planning pre-production work for their next album in Los Angeles. The album will be produced by Eric Valentine and released on the Warner Bros. label.

The Deep End DE300HD head utilizes a 12AX7 preamp tube with a 300-watt solid-state output section. The tube can be driven via a Tube Gain control to provide everything from “R&B grit” to an aggressive, overdriven tone. Features include Room EQ controls, Speaker-Emulated XLR D.I., Effects Loop Send and Return jacks, and Organic Clipping™ power amp circuitry that provides tube-amp tone and response.

Kustom® is owned, manufactured and marketed by Hanser Music Group (HMG), a third-generation music products company based in Hebron, KY. Other HMG brands include B.C. Rich® guitars, Michael Kelly® guitars and Traben® basses. Davitt & Hanser, the sales and distribution division of HMG, has operated continuously since 1924.
