Pick’s Transcription Workshop: Marcus Miller’s Live Solo “Scoop”

I chose this particular Marcus Miller bass solo because it is a veritable encyclopedia of Miller’s most used but never abused signature licks. I don’t give specific fingerings as I feel it’s best for the individual to find what fingerings work for him/herself.

Even if you are not primarily a “slap master” I still HIGHLY recommend that you learn this solo and be able to play along with Marcus in real time. The key (if there really even is one) is basically E7(#9). Marcus kills on this solo. If you are a wise bass player you’ll add a few of these choice licks to your arsenal and you’ll all the funkier and jazzier for it. Enjoy.
