Hal Leonard Blues Play-Along, Albert Collins… “Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues,” is the first thing I think of when I think of Albert Collins.

Needless to say, the cameo in this scene from “Adventures in Babysitting” is just a small piece of the body of work by this renown blues guitarist.

You can imagine my excitement when I saw this book come in for review from Hal Leonard. This “Play Along Series” music book and CD are perfect If you have a blues band as it has all the music broken down for multiple instruments (B flat, E flat, Bass Clef and and C instruments).

The CD has duplicates of each of the eight songs with one in a Full Stereo Mix and the other a Split Track where you can remove either the Keyboard and Bass (Turn down left channel) or Guitar, Horn and Harmonica parts (Turn down Right channel).

The music is written in easy-to-read lead sheets (no tab here, but the changes are simple to follow). All of the tunes are on the upbeat side and are good to get your blues heart pumping!

Here is the list of tunes:

  • Brick
  • Collins’ Mix
  • Don’t Lose Your Cool
  • Frost Bite
  • Frosty
  • I Ain’t Drunk
  • Master Charge
  • Trash Talking

So, if you are looking to hone those Blues chops and have some fun in the process, this might be the right tool for you.
