John Myung & Dream Theater Has #1 Prog Rock Album All Time:Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory, the 1999 album by progressive hard rock icons Dream Theater, has been named the top progressive rock album of all time by readers of Rolling Stone in a just-published poll. The honor comes on the heels of their second-place finish in last year’s “Top 10 Metal Bands Of All Time”. The band was quick to respond to this weeks’s welcome news, releasing the statement, “All of us in Dream Theater are so grateful to our fans for their incredible support in voting our album as number one in Rolling Stone’s poll for your favorite prog rock albums of all time. The kind of support we have around the world is absolutely amazing.”
Fans of the band are most likely already familiar with the group’s co-founding member, 6-string bass specialist John Myung, who has quite a following of his own in the bass community. Look for Dream Theater to wrap up their world tour later this summer in support of their latest offering, the Grammy-nominated A Dramatic Turn Of Events. The tour began in September 2011.
