Esperanza Spalding’s Radio Music Society Wins Soul Train Award… The Concord Music Group is proud to announce that Esperanza Spalding’s Radio Music Society has won a Soul Train Award in the category of Best Contemporary Jazz Artist/ Group. The Soul Train Awards 2012, which acknowledge the achievements of today’s most famed entertainers, were held at Planet Hollywood Live in Las Vegas and were simulcast on BET and Centric Sunday night,  November 25 at 8PM ET/PT. Celebrities from music, film, sports and television such as Jamie Foxx, Stevie Wonder, Eddie Levert, Billy Crystal, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Melanie Fiona, Jody Watley, Doug E. Fresh, Tony Rock, Luke James, Estelle, Donny and Marie Osmond, Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, and Tamar Braxton, joined Soul Train in celebrating some of the best musical contributions of 2012.

Esperanza Spalding has become the first lady of jazz. She played with Stevie Wonder for President Obama at the White House and went on to become the first jazz musician to win a Best New Artist Grammy® with Chamber Music Society. Spalding’s latest release, Radio Music Society, her most diverse, ambitious and masterful recital yet, has spent over thirteen weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.
