Ugh. Sorry if this sounds jaded but the categories here are so incredibly vague they seem to me targeted at robbing the immature and green. “Discovering the creative process”? Here it is: put a finger on a note, play it, decide what comes next, repeat. No mystery. Even this guy’s web site seems designed by the same guys who sell “How to seduce any woman, lemme tell you my true (really) story”. (Aka The Mob)

What IS a mystery for most and where “enhance your musicianship” comes in is how, more importantly when, to hint a G#b9 on the way to Amaj7 in E, at speed, in the pocket, live and have people know that’s what you just did.

Hopefully someone is saved from wasting money on false hope by this comment; hopefully…

I am not sure what motivates this person’s criticism, but I can assure you it is far off. I have known Jake Kot for 20 years, during which he has served as my teacher and mentor. Jake is a very well-respected musician and 100% sincere in his desire to share what he knows about the creative process. I have read his writings and they contain ideas of lasting value. There is more to creativity than putting your finger on a note and deciding what to play next. I think Jake’s teachings can help you discover some of the keys to that creativity. I recommend that you give his program a chance. I can’t imagine that you will regret it.
