The Bass Hanger, Review by Eric Parsons

I have a small confession to make.  I was cruising the internet the other day and I ran across a photo on Bass Musician Magazine’s Facebook page and it gave me…. Gear Lust.

The photo was of someone’s bass rig that consisted of some (already forgotten) bass amp head sitting on top of an Ampeg SVT 8×10 speaker cabinet.  As you can probably tell, it wasn’t the head that had captured my attention and it wasn’t really the cabinet – because I already own one of these.

It was the bass that seemed to be floating in front of the rig.  I had to know how this was done!  I immediately sent a message asking the original poster for details on the stand, but when I hadn’t heard back in about 30 seconds I got impatient and started surfing the web in earnest.

Eureka!  I had found it!  The device in question is called a Basshanger and it can be found at Basshanger.com.  Now, this is admittedly kind of a niche product because it is designed to be used on a fairly tall speaker box – which must have a “towel rack” handle on the back.  So…. it’s pretty much made for the Ampeg 8×10 or 6×10.  I can’t wait to try it out at my next gig.  Price 27.99 delivered.  For more info go to: www.basshanger.com
