A history of The Rolling Stones as told through the instruments they used on the stage and in the studio

Rolling Stones Gear is a coffee table  book that gives an in-depth history of the Rolling Stones from their inception in 1962 to present date and provides detailed descriptions of the gear used at every tour and recording date, as well as delving into the personalities of the band members.  This book, by Andy Babiuk and Greg Prevost, contains hundreds of highly detailed photographs of the band members actual instruments – many of which have never been published before.

There is a ridiculous amount of gear-based trivia in this book, enough to satisfy the gear hound in all of us.  As an example, did you know that the Ampeg company got it’s start (and name) by developing a microphone that resided inside the body of a Double Bass and also acted as the end peg for the instrument – hence the name.  Here’s another spoiler:  Keith Richard’s named his famed Telecaster “Micawber”  because… “There’s no one around me called Micawber, so, when I scream for Micawber, everyone knows what I’m talking about.”
