Hal Leonard's Essential Bass Guitar Techniques by Chris Kringel

Another great release from Hal Leonard is Essential Bass Guitar Techniques by Chris Kringel.

This book covers twenty-one techniques that every bass player should know. Ever wanted to know the basics of everything (and then some!) from Finger and Pick style techniques, fret hand technique, slapping, popping, tapping, and harmonics? This book will get you going in the right direction. This book is geared for the beginning bassist to the intermediate level, and can even be a refresher course for some.

Each exercise is presented with notation and tablature with chord progressions. Audio is available via download from Hal Leonard. Pictures are presented with each topic and are easy to decipher the topic on which Chris is presenting. Each exercise starts out very basic and progressively gets more difficult. Each topic covers multiple techniques that can be used. For example, plucking technique covers everything from finger style, anchor, two or three fingers, dynamics, and palm muting, where the slap topic covers thumb slap, finger pop, double thumb, double pop, then putting it all together. That’s just a couple examples of the six topics covered in Hal Leonard’s Essential Bass Guitar Techniques by Chris Kringel.
