Bass Gear Review: Ibanez SR Kaoss 4-String Bass…

New and innovative from Ibanez is the SR Kaoss 4 string bass. This bass is one of a kind loaded with the mini kaoss pad 2S, which is the latest in the line from the Korg Kaoss family. The body is constructed of mahogany with a cool satin black finish, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has 22 frets, all hardware is black, and the bridge pickup is passive. The body is equipped with a compartment to hold the mini kaoss pad 2S allowing complete access to the controls, and it mounts right below the the volume and other controls.

The mini kaoss pad 2S has 100 effects from everything filters, modulation, delay, loopers, and synthesizers plus an XY pad to control them and it can also used as an mp3 player to practice along with mp3’s. MicroSD and microSDHC cards can be used to store the mp3’s and the mini kaoss pad 2S is powered by two AA batteries. Aside from the mini kaoss pad 2S, the Ibanez SR Kaoss 4 String Bass has a couple other cool features that sits it aside from other basses. Built in distortion that can be turned on or off at the flick of a switch with controls for distortion tone and gain. A switch that allows you to bypass the mini kaoss pad 2S, and master volume.

While the Ibanez SR Kaoss 4 String Bass does wonders on the gig, it also does exceptionally well in the studio and for practicing. Coming standard with the 1/4” plug, it also is equipped with an 1/8” headphone jack. Going from stage or studio to practicing in the hotel or wherever is now a breeze.
