Iraqi War Veteran and singer/songwriter John Preston released a veterans’ tribute EP on November 11th titled Your War is Over, partnering with the established 501c3 “Boot Campaign” (bootcampaign.org) to give a portion of all sales to the continuing battle to promote awareness and assistance to the struggles faced by veterans and their families.
“There is a coalition of veterans from all over the Nation that are stepping up to help one another. We are no longer waiting to be helped; we have taken matters into our own hands. The EP Your War is Over is a a chance to unite our purpose and give us, the warriors, a voice”- John Preston
John made a splash in the music industry and the political world with his first single “this IS war”, released on October 20th.
Raised on a farm in Kentucky, John exemplifies a true American born for service. John was highly decorated as a Marine during his tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom and is currently working as a Firefighter. Through all of his travels of the world and growth in life he has used music as his platform to navigate his journey.
John had his first success as a musician while still in Iraq when a song and video he had written and created for his battalion titled “Good Good America” was covered by the Los Angeles Times and became a national sensation within days. Upon his return from Iraq, John played radio and television shows all over the country and recorded his first single with Real2reel records. In 2007, John was nominated for an LA Music Award with his band HWY 42 and has since received many accolades for his songwriting. John is accompanied by fellow Marine Corps veterans Shane Roberts and Justin Heisey, whose talents have helped contribute to John’s success over the years.
The song “this IS war” is a veteran view on ISIS. I wrote the song after seeing numerous videos of ISIS murdering Syrian and Iraqi People while threatening the United States. This is simply a reminder that we are waiting for them. From my father who fought in Vietnam to my brother in Kosovo to myself in Iraq we are generations of warriors that would be happy to see the face of our enemy! Even before our government had decided to wage war, we already have! -John Preston
Stay tuned as John and veterans from around the country set forth to promote patriotism, awareness and healing through the musical journey of Your War is Over.
