Bass Lines: Famous Bass Intros – Part IX – Pink Floyd’s “Money”…
Hello bass players and fans of bass playing! The Famous Bass Intro is right here!
Pink Floyd – Money (from their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon)
“Money” is a great song written by the bass player Roger Waters(Pink Floyd). The single was their first hit in the US. The song also was ranked #69 on the list of “The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time” of Rolling Stone. Roger Waters’ bassline, described as “one of the most memorable classic bass riffs ever recorded.” The song is characterized for its 7/4 time signature.
Fig.1 – This is a good example of an odd meter riff. Remember the swing 8th note feel on the second beat and the staccato note on the third of every bar. Have fun with this amazing groove!
