Ibanez has reissued the 2609B Black Eagle 4-String Bass, straight out of 1975, and it’s as if they never stopped production. This is a true classic from Ibanez, sounding like one and playing like one. From the classic style of the mahogany body with the inward horns to the 20 fret maple fretboard with custom inlays, right down to the pickguard with the engraved eagle design near the lower horn. Let’s not forget about the f-hole headstock, complete with mother of pearls inlays around the edges. Seems like yesterday that the Black Eagle was introduced, and even though it is now the 40th anniversary, this is still the same beautiful classic it was back then.

The electronics are passive with the bridge and neck pickups being the Alnico Super J pickups, with separate volume controls for each pickup and one tone control. All of the hardware is chrome and the string spacing is the standard 19mm. Playing gigs with the 2609B Black Eagle 4-String Bass was like taking a step into the past, right from the feel and sound of the bass.
