I was just a kid when The Beatles made the scene in the 60’s. At the time, I was already into music but I was playing the accordion (don’t judge me – lol)! Well, as you can imagine, the accordion is just not the right instrument for Beatles music, so I felt that I really needed a guitar. Of course this was going to be a challenge as my mom had already sunk her hard-earned money into the Crucianelli.

Being a creative young fellow I began a plan to build my own instrument. I worked on designs that involved a cigar box, a stick and rubber bands. As far as tuning, this was not in the design, as I had no idea how I could make them. Considering the fact that I did not have any tools, constructing my own instrument would prove impossible for me. Needless to say, as time passed I found ways to get string instruments into my hands and ultimately got a bass. I had found the instrument that would carry my voice and expression and it has had my utmost attention ever since.

Why I started a segment called, “For the Love of Bass”… Through our world-wide bass community on Facebook, I have witnessed how necessity is truly the mother of invention and how so many of you have found a way to get creative in an attempt to get/find/build a “Bass” to play. You send countless pictures of unique instruments you have built from scratch. Many of you have modified an existing instrument to meet your needs with artistic expression, stickers, paint, new electronics and even different parts… you never cease to amaze me in your quest for your perfect sound.

Now it is time to share your stories with the world-wide bass community!

Submit your story or video below and share why you are inspired to play bass and how you developed your perfect bass/rig/sound. If chosen, I will contact you via email.

Keep it low…
