Jazz Improvisation for Bass with Andrea Fascetti: Chromatic Approaches in Action Part 6

Hi My Friend And Colleagues,

Welcome To My New Lesson About Chromatic Approaches Lines!

Thank You Very Much For Private Emails About The Exercises. I Want You To Remember That This Is A Very Long Course About The Art Of Improvisation. So Stay Tuned If You Want To Increase Your Skills About This Argumen And Please Keep In Mind That You Have To Be Very Patient With Yourself When You’re Working With New Information.

I Have Done Lessons About Many Things. I Think That If You Practice Correctly This Exercises, You’ll Strongly Increase Your Music Skills. So Don’t Forget To Take A Look To Old Lessons 🙂

Now We Keep On Using This Cool Technique Called Chromatic Approaches, That I Learned From My Teacher Charlie Banacos. I Adapted It To Bass Using Some Of My Personal Ideas.

This Time We Go Back To Minor With Major Seventh Chord (C – Maj7 ) (In Key Of C : C Eb G B) Which Is The Sixth Chord Of This Group Of Lessons. Remember That You Can Use Chromatics To Approach All Chord Tones! In The Past Lessons I Have Used Only One Type Of Chromatic Approach, But Now You Can Try To Use More Combinations Of Notes. In Following Lessons We Will Go On To Use This Kind Of Line Over All Chord Types, So You’ll Adapt The Notes To Various Chord Tones.

Ok, It’s Time For Usual Homework Assignment:

Take The Exercise –

What Happens Here? I Wrote A Very Simple, Be Bop Oriented, 4 Bars Vamp… Just To Show You How You Can Play A Simple Solo Over An Minor Maj7 Chord Line Using Chromatic Approaches!

Remember: Do Not Use A Metronome! Only When You Have The Exercise “Under Your Fingers”, Can You Use A Metronome. As Usual Play The Exercise As Fast As You Can!

Tranpose The Exercise In All Keys!

Analyze How I Used The Notes And Then Write An Exercises On Your Own. It’s Basic!!!

Good Luck And Have A Good Practice Time 🙂

Andrea
