Fresh off the presses from Hal Leonard is the 10 Funk and Soul Music Songs Bass Along. Each song is outlined with the different sections such as intro, verse, chorus, and bridge. The notation and tab parts are created separately instead of the tab being below the notation as it is most times; I find this concept easier and less distracting.

The book gets into the heart of funk and soul with tunes from great artists such as Kool and the Gang, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and James Brown. It is great for the young bass player all the way to the advanced, as we never stop learning. The tunes are written as lead sheets as opposed to transcriptions and geared to give you a better feel with the groove.

The Funk and Soul Music Songs Bass Along also comes with a CD that has vocals, guitar, keys, bass, and drums for the full track, and an additional track with bass omitted.
