Always been a big fan of the sound and punch from a GK set up. Never had a chance to use one unfortunately but still love the big kick you in the spine thud of a GK.

I appreciate BMM presenting new devices and your hard work being bass enthusiasts but I already tried a ton of these type devices and they are all the same. I spend a lot of time finding the right pickups and strings only to have a device suck out all the tone. It’s best to keep things simple.

+PhuckHue2 I appreciate your input. You have found what works right for you. On the other hand, trashing something you have not even tried is not really fair… This might be perfect for someones’ needs…

I am holding off on buying any kind of preamp pedal, until I can check out the Plex. I’m considering the VT Deluxe, Bass Fly Rig, and a few others, but I dig the GK tone.
By the way BassMusicianMagazine, you have misspelled “Gallien” every single time… 😉

I do think doing your research before you buy is a great idea… it is hard to know what features you will need and what everything does. Both the Tech21 NYc and the GK products are solid choices. Thanks for catching the Typo on the description. I just made the correction . At least it is correct in the video. We produce over sixty videoa in a few days to have them loaded in for the Special NAMM issue,,, http://bassmusicianmagazine.com/2016/02/adam-nitti-bass-musician-magazine-february-2016-issue/

Wow, I’m thinking I may have an ultimate fly rig!!!! I currently use the Gallien-Krueger MB212-II – 2×12″ 500-watt Bass Combo with my Zoom B1Xon multi effects pedal. I get complements from the volume and tone of my rig. I’m playing in a “drop A” metal band through my 4 string Musicman. At 10:00 if keeps up with a heavy handed drummer and two EVH Tube stacks (4×12 each). I walk in with my 50 lbs combo in one hand, my backpack for effects and cables and my bass case in the other hand in ONE trip. This being my first experience with “GK” I am impressed with is EQ’ing such as on the pedal listed so thus I’ve lost the desire for a 300 Watt tube what ever! I get that Darkglass BX7 sound (bass unaffected with high Mid and Treble crunch). But how could I make it even lighter? Use this Pre-amp / DI and my Zoom pedal could go international through the PA. Or I could use the self powered Gallien-Krueger 212MBP 2×12″ 500-Watt Powered Bass Cabinet weighing 40 lbs (about 10-11 lbs) lighter with my set up… kinda geeking out right now.

Does the PLEX utilize phantom power? Battery or just power supply? Thanks

First of all, this pedal seems really cool. I’m confused with one thing, though. At 1:36 he says that the function (hi mid/hi cut) is to simulate different cabinets. Wouldn’t that be the case for voice control? I’m aware he is mr Gallien himself, but he may have misspoken.

La PLEX a un peu changé depuis… le Compresseur a 2 potards et se trouvent à droite… le drive est juste à coté du Master/Voice et n’a qu’un seul potard… et elle a un potard Trim/Clip tout en haut à droite… 😉
