Flying Solo (PoMo Records, 2016) is an acoustic record, which highlights Ted Russell Kamp’s soulful singing and songwriting craft. It is made up of mostly bare bones performances—just voice and bass.

This album delights with 6 new studio tracks and 6 live recordings ruled from concerts and radio station visits. One song, recorded live in Finland, is a solo mandolin and vocal version of “Steady At The Wheel,” which Kamp wrote for Shooter Jennings and was #1 on Texas radio for 6 weeks.

Ted has been called, “A striking singer/songwriter…absolutely hypnotizing” (Music Row,) and “terrific…a star on the rise in the tradition of great troubadours like Guy Clark” (No Depression). The songs on Flying Solo are about love and wisdom, struggle and growth. The music is as honest as it gets.

Some of the songs were co-written with friends at home at home in the L.A. country-rock scene (Kirsten Profit of Calico, David Serby), in Austin (Tony Scalzo of Fastball, Gordy Quist of The Band of Heathens) and in in Nashville (Chris Tompkins).

Ted’s last 4 records made the Americana Chart’s Top 100 Records of the Year and Get Back To The Land (2011) debuted at #1 on the Euro-Americana Chart. Flying Solo is the record fans have been asking Ted to make for years as it captures the essence of Ted’s live show when he tours solo through Europe and the US… just a man and his songs with a suitcase and a guitar.

Ted just completed a 17-date tour of Texas and is getting ready to hit Europe for 17 dates in April and Early May.

As a solo artist, Ted Russell Kamp has been called “a striking singer/songwriter … absolutely hypnotizing” (Music Row, USA) and “A star on the rise … in the tradition of great troubadours like Guy Clark (No Depression, USA).” He has released 6 solo albums in the past 10 years, 4 of which made the Top 100 Americana Albums of the Year and one debuted at #1 on the Euroamericana Chart. As a songwriter, he has a storyteller’s flair for offbeat characters, interesting turns of phrase and a sense of realism and emotional honesty that makes his music both poetic and real. He writes in the style of his lifelong inspirations Bob Dylan, The Band, and Kris Kristofferson.”The strength of Kamp’s music is his songwriting, and his voice. Many singers try twice as hard and are still only half as unique and engaging as Ted.” SavingCountryMusic.com

As a bass player, Ted has become one of the most sought after players in Los Angeles for all kinds of roots music. He has played with Shooter Jennings, Jessi Colter, Wilson Phillips, Wanda Jackson, Lee Roy Parnell, Jonathan Tyler, Billy Ray Cyrus, Julie Roberts, Tony Joe White, Rosie Florez, James Intveld, Candye Kane and dozens of other acts. He has toured for years on his own and with other groups, has seen the world from the back of a tour bus and has flown to Europe and the Far East countless times to perform. He brings the history and soul of American music to every note he plays, effortlessly dancing between the juicy gumbo of country and Southern-fried rock, classic blues and soul and the honesty and simplicity of singer/songwriter music.
