Mike Claiborne Takes Us Home with Sunday Meeting

Mike Claiborne Sunday Meeting“Sunday Meeting,” the latest single from Nashville-based bassist, Mike Claiborne, is that kind of tune that immediately takes you back to days gone by, sitting with friends and family, enjoying a gigantic pot-luck.

As Claiborne says, “I wrote Sunday Meeting with that down home southern church type of experience in mind. My images were of a summer day, maybe a special event with dinner on the grounds afterwards. Kids are playing. Old folks are telling stories. The music tells a narrative that makes you feel good,” and it’s evident. To help achieve that vintage sound, Claiborne used his ’69 Fender Jazz Bass (which he’s had since he was 16), complete with a sock under the roundwound strings, as well as a Wurlitzer 200A.

Sunday Meeting from Mike Claiborne is part Cannonball Adderly, Quincy Jones, Donna Hathaway…but all nostalgia. Give it a listen/download today!
