The Fret-King 5 String Perception Bass is a monster of a bass wrapped in vintage style beauty. With the classic vintage look and classic tones with a modern twist, this is one hard bass to put down. I have logged many hours on countless gigs with this particular bass and it has not let me down! This bass features a two-piece center jointed American alder body, with a 10” radius one piece neck of hard rock maple, and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard with medium jumbo frets. The one-piece neck is rock solid (no pun intended) and like some 5 piece necks, it doesn’t need many adjustments due to climate changes.

The all Wilkinson hardware consists of a cold rolled bent steel bridge and brass saddles, just like the classic basses and all the hardware is chrome. Finishing off the looks of the bass is a beautiful amber classic sunburst finish. The 5-String Perception is a passive bass that packs a punch due to the vintage spec pickups. The pickups are a P/J configuration using the Wilkinson WPB for the P pickup and the Wilkinson WJBR pickup for the jazz pickup. The Wilkinson WPB and WBJR pickups have Alnico V magnets producing a warm and richly harmonic bass tone and are hum canceling. Controls consist of a separate volume for each pickup and one tone control.

This bass is a true work-horse and feels really good, even after many long hours of playing. The Fret-King Perception Basses are available in both 4 and 5 string versions with the classic sunburst or black finishes. The 4-string is also available in white.
