Ibanez SR406EBCW 6-String Electric Bass Review…

Ibanez has released yet another astounding bass in the SR series. The Ibanez SR406EBCW 6-String Electric Bass features a mahogany body with a claro walnut top and a five-piece maple and rosewood neck with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard. The natural gray burst finish really makes the body of this bass shine with that claro walnut top. The SR406EBCW also has a brand new feature from Ibanez, the PowerSpan Dual Coil (PDC) neck and bridge pickups. The PDC pickups have exposed poles with 4 poles per string on each pickup. The PDC pickups give you the ultimate balance between higher and lower frequencies. The harmonic tones produced by these pickups is unbelievable and ear-catching to say the least.

The Ibanez 3 band EQ rounds out the electronics for the SR406EBCW. Along with controls for volume, balance, mids, and treble is a 3-way power tap switch allowing you to toggle between single coil, humbucking, and the power tap, which gives a boost to the low end. The hardware is all black and the Ibanez accu-cast B306 bridge provides 16.5 mm string spacing. String gauges are .032, .045, .065, .085, .105, and .130 with standard 6-string tuning. This bass is a blast to play with it’s sleek and fast neck and exceptionally wide range of tones that it is capable of producing, which can be attributed to the tonal woods selection and the amazing PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups.
