Peavey PVH 410 Series Bass Enclosure Review

Peavey, long a household name for many musicians, has just introduced the PVH Series Bass Enclosures. Everything Peavey has made is always a workhorse and lived up to the great reputation that Peavey has. The PVH Series Bass Enclosures are of the highest quality in construction and sound production. The PVH Series is available in four different configurations.

  • The PVH 1516 contains a 15” speaker and 2 8” speakers handling 1100 watts at 8Ohm and also has a 3 way eq switch.
  • The PVH 212 contains 2 12”speakers, a high frequency horn tweeter with rotary attenuator, and handles 900 watts at 8Ohm.
  • The PVH 410 contain 4 10” speakers, a high frequency horn tweeter with rotary attenuator, and handles 1200 watts at 8Ohm.
  • And finally, the PVH 210 contains 2 10” speakers, a high frequency horn tweeter with rotary attenuator, and handles 600 watts at 8Ohm.

All of the cabinets 15mm plywood construction and are ported, have black carpet covering with metal edges, and two combo input jacks. Covers are available for all cabinets and casters are also available for the PVH 1516 and PVH 410.

The PVH Series Bass Enclosure that was submitted for the review was the PVH 410. Even weighing in at 83lbs, it was easy to move around on top of not moving at all when at really loud volumes. Sometimes, with lighter enclosures, they tend to move around at higher volumes due to vibration, even to the point of where I have had to readjust the amp head on top of the enclosure. This was not the case with this model. I used the PVH 410 with the new Peavey MiniMEGA 1000 watt bass head (review) and was pleasantly surprised. The venue I used the PVH 410 at required fairly loud and clean stage volume and with the Peavey MiniMEGA cranked up about 1/2 way I felt no resistance in clean sound output from the PVH 410. Loud and clean! Before soundcheck, I did have it at a lower volume, and it was just as responsive at the lower volume as it was at higher volume. Being a ported cabinet on both the top and bottom really increases the low end of the PVH 410.

The PVH Series Bass Enclosures are a perfect match for the Peavey MiniMEGA Bass Head that will keep you playing for many years to come! Check out the new PVH Series Bass Enclosures from Peavey at a music retailer near you!
