Bass Musician Magazine Interviews Glenn Fukanaga

Bass Musician Magazine Interviews Glenn Fukunaga…

This month, I had the pleasure to interview Austin bass player (and brother in Spam MusubiGlenn Fukunaga, who is currently on tour with the Dixie Chicks, DCX MMXVI North America Tour.

Besides the current tour, Glenn played bass on half of the Dixie Chicks acclaimed Home album and performed with them on late-night TV appearances, a live concert released on DVD, and “Crossroads” with James Taylor.

A bit more on Glenn…

He has laid down the low end for top artists in the Texas music scene, as well as Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Dr. John, James Cotton, Freddy Fender, Brian Setzer, Earl King, Flaco Jimenez, Junior Wells, David Amram and many others.

Glenn’s, Not A Word, is an instrumental album, deftly balanced at the place where 1950s to early ‘60s be-bop jazz met fusion. “It’s jazz that plays to the song with an almost painterly sensibility,” says Glenn.

Now, on to our interview…

From the amazing audience reaction and sold-out crowd in Washington State, this long-awaited tour is one not to be missed! Rapping up on October 10th at the Hollywood Bowl, check out the DCX MMXVI tour schedule and grab your tickets before they’re gone.

Special thanks to The Dixie Chicks, Tour Manager Mindi Pelletier, as well as Ian Jarvis, Peter Martinez and all the tour staff for their hospitality!
