How did you get started as a Luthier?
I started in 1980

When did you build your first bass?
In 1991

How did you learn the art of woodworking/Luthier?
My grandfather started build guitars in 1921; my grandfather taught my father and my father taught me.

How do you select the woods you choose to build with?
I choose the veins of the wood, the drying time of it.

How about pickups? What pickups did you use in the past? What electronics do you use right now?
In the past we did not have access to good pickups in Brasil, but now we have access to what the world can offer us.

Who were some of the first well-known musicians who started playing your basses?
Tavares (Fresno band )

How do you develop a signature or custom bass for an artist?
The artist brings the project or idea and we develop it together.

What are a few things that you are proud about your instruments and that you would consider unique in your instruments?
I am proud to be able to make a start of the instrument to the end without using an electric machine.

Which one of the basses that you build is your favorite one?
A Rickenbacker style.

Can you give us a word of advice to young Luthiers who are just starting out?
Never settle, always learn more.

What advice would you give a young musician trying to find his perfect bass?
The perfect bass is one that fits in your hand. Good construction is important and over time you can improve your parts.

What is biggest success for you and for your company?
The history my family

Are you preparing something new, some new model or new design? Or maybe some new gear amps, etc.
Yes, Im preparing a new model… soon I will show you guys.

What are your future plans?
My child has love for the profession and will continue our tradition.
