If you are a bass player who likes to play Bossa Nova music, you will know that there are some basic Bossa grooves that are a standard in the market. But if you want to try a different taste or you would like to experiment, I will give some good ideas for your bass lines…

Below I have some interesting examples, including the traditional Bossa Nova bass lines.

*Notice that the groove variations are based on the technique of creating rhythmic tension. About the note selection, I’m using exclusively the root and the perfect fifth of the Cm7 chord for all the examples, but always take into account that you can use any chord tones, scale/modal notes as passing tones , etc.

Stay tuned for more great stuff in the next issue and keep in touch with #fullbassattack and #bassmusicianmag. Thank you for all your support and feel free to comment.
