If This Bass Could Talk – Brandino’s Gangsta Bass

Published

Chances are, if you’re one of the few that hasn’t heard the name Kevin “Brandino” Brandon, you’ve definitely heard his bass playing. With a resume that starts with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and Aretha Franklin to current notables such as will.i.am and Justin Timberlake, Brandino has a lot of stories to tell. Even more interesting than his resume are the basses that helped create some of those iconic basslines.

In this video (with the help of videographer, Alex Kluft), Brandino sits down with Matt Kirkwood to talk about the “Gangsta Bass.” A 1958 Fender Precision is an iconic instrument by itself, but in the hands of Brandino, this bass helped to create history.

As you can see/hear, Brandino is a wealth of musical history. They are currently looking for sponsors to help with the cost of creating the videos so that these stories – with more iconic basses – can be recorded and shared to the younger generation of musician. Please contact Brandino for more information on how you can get involved.
