The latest release by Tedeschi Trucks Band, Live From the Fox Oakland, showcases the 12-piece band in top live form, performing 15 soulful, improvisation-fueled tunes.

Tedeschi Trucks Band, Featuring Bassist Tim Lefebvre, Releases Live From The Fox Oakland - 2Tim Lefebvre holds down the bass chair for the band and presents a stellar performance on the album. Tim uses his role to create perfect, deep-pocketed grooves to support the songs, but also takes opportunities afforded him during bandmates’ solo flights to stretch harmonic boundaries.  A perfect example of Tim’s ability to move through musical extremes occurs on the first track, “Don’t Know What It Means”, where Tim plays a foundational bouncing groove for the vocal work of Susan Tedeschi, but then flexes his range to support the angular, tension-filled solo of saxophonist Kebbi Williams.

A subtler example of harmony-bending comes from the track “Keep On Growing”, shared here as a video clip from the concert film, which is available on DVD and Blu-ray.

“KEEP ON GROWING”

Tim does a masterful job during Derek Trucks’ slide solo, working with keyboardist Kofi Burbridge to cleverly alter the harmonic balance which propels the section in wonderful ways.

Tim remarks, “The band was on fire that night and it was captured beautifully visually and aurally. We’re looking forward to more sonic adventures while on tour in 2017!”

“LET ME GET BY”

The album is available through the Tedeschi Trucks Band web site, iTunes, Amazon and Best Buy.

In related news, Tim and TTB bandmates Kebbi Williams, JJ Johnson, and Tyler Greenwell have recorded Whose Hat Is This. This album, recorded live in 2015 at the A-Trane in Berlin, is available for pre-order now and will ship on April 9.
