Robert Miller’s Project Grand Slam To Open Again For Grammy Nominated Artists Mindi Abair and Boney James

Project Grand Slam (PGS), the celebrated jazz rock fusion band with a twist of Classic Rock and Latin led by acclaimed bassist/composer Robert Miller, is pleased to announce the band’s featured performances in October opening for Jazz/Blues sensation Mindi Abair And The Boneshakers and Smooth Jazz superstar Boney James. Both performances mark the return of PGS as the opening act for these artists – the third time for Boney James and the second for Mindi Abair.

On October 16th PGS will open for Mindi Abair at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York City for the second time this year. Last February the band opened there for Mindi and the show was such a success that it resulted in Mindi’s guest appearance on two tracks written by Robert on the band’s latest album, “The PGS Experience”, called “Fishin” and “Metro Shuffle”.

On October 19th PGS will reunite with Boney James for the third time and the second at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, CT. Their first double bill was at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. The band is thrilled to play another show with Boney and the fantastic audience in Ridgefield.

Robert says: “We have had such a great time opening for these two great artists who we so admire, and we look forward to doing it again. We’ve had great success performing before their audiences.”

PGS has earned over one million video views and over 42,000 Facebook followers while defying genres, languages and geographic boundaries.  The band has wowed audiences from Smooth Jazz to Rock, from Millennials to Baby Boomers, at major venues, and cultivated a fervent, worldwide fan base.

2017 has been a special year for Project Grand Slam.  The band performed this summer in four major music festivals in Jamaica, Detroit, NYC and Alabama.  PGS also opened in July for Blues Traveler, whose front man John Popper hailed the band from the stage saying “PGS is freaking awesome!”

In June the band released “The PGS Experience”, their fifth album, featuring their signature fusion of Jazz, Funk, Latin and reimagined Classic Rock covers, including live versions of Robert’s take on Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire” and The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me” (Dave Davies of The Kinks has praised PGS’s version).  The album also includes studio versions of Robert’s arrangements of Cream’s “I’m So Glad” and Phish’s “Free”.  In addition, the album features three new instrumentals by Robert.  The PGS Experience has received uniformly rave reviews, with Jazziz Magazine calling it a “Must Know About” album.   Other reviews include: “Fresh, diverse and full of energy!…Man, they just kill it live!” (Keith “Muzikman” Hannaleck), and “Fast and furious funk, infectious melodies and spirited jams!” (Jonathan Widran).
