Dynamo, anchored by bassist Zachariah Witcher, has released their latest album, “Celina”.

The Nashville-based pop/funk/R&B collective recorded the 8 tracks, without any overdubs, in front of a live audience.  Witcher’s contribution of a solid pocket and propulsive grooves jump out immediately on the gospel stomp of the first track, “Thankful”.

Zachariah has a knack for expertly anchoring tracks, then placing perfectly timed ornaments to decorate a section.

Note his work on “Your Touch”, where he builds wonderfully evolving lines after the keys solo, culminating with the lovely high register lick at 3:03.

“Jade” is a great track, worth highlighting for Witcher’s pocketed, dance-y groove that is laid over the 5+6 bounce of the first verse.

Witcher remarks on the album,  “I met the DynaHomies in school at Belmont University before they were officially a band.

I had been hanging out and selling merch for them for years when the former bassist, my friend Kevin Gift Jr., had some other work opportunities come up and stepped out a little before Celina was recorded.  Ryan Connors gave me the call to join the group and soon after we started the writing process and left for the tour leading to recording in Syracuse. Ryan had some ideas for bass lines for tunes he had written, but overall I was able to just be myself on the record. I even ended up having one of my own tunes (Closer) put on.

Celina was the first time, on record. I was able to play songs I loved the way I truly wanted to, without being in any kind of genre box or anything like that.”

“Celina” is available now through iTunes.  More information about the band, along with current tour dates, can be found at dynamo-music.com.
