Flea Signature Active Jazz Bass Review

A little over a year ago, Fender released the Flea Jazz Bass, which is a replica of his Shell Pink 1961 Jazz bass.

Just recently, Fender released the Flea Signature Active Jazz Bass, which is just as stunning and amazing as the Flea Jazz Bass.

This bass has some outstanding bells and whistles, is comfortable to play, and can go from soft and subtle to downright thunderous. As with the standard jazz bass, we are accustomed to the standard two J pickups. It differs in this area in that it has one Fender Custom Humbucking pickup in the bridge position, which is complimented with an 18-volt Preamp complete with controls for volume, treble, and bass.

The unique jazz bass body shape is constructed of Alder wood and completed with a satin polyurethane finish that is available in two colors, inca silver or shell pink.

The neck is C shaped quartersawn maple with a 22 fret maple fingerboard completed with medium jumbo frets, black dot inlays, and a bone nut. All of the hardware is chrome, the bridge being be Fender 4-saddle HiMass and the tuners are the Fender Lightweight vintage style keys with tapered shafts.

The Flea Signature Bass also comes with a vintage style G&G hardshell case.

Now, while the this bass may or not make you want to play like Flea, rest assured, this bass is well equipped for any genre out there today.
