About the Ibanez SRMD200 “Mezzo” Bass

The original concept behind the SRMD200 “Mezzo” was to create an affordable, quality bass guitar that offers the comfort and benefits of compact 32in scale bass. Aspiring players were the inspiration for this series but the Mezzo basses are well suited for players of all experience levels and they’re super fun to play.  

32” scale provides a shorter reach and tighter fret spacing allowing for easy execution of fast runs and quick jumps across the fingerboard. From top to bottom this scale length makes for a very quick and agile instrument, while still preserving a high degree of the attack and low end of full-scale basses. The SR Mezzo series offers experienced players a great way to experiment with a medium scale instrument without a large upfront investment. Additionally, the PJ pickup configuration makes it simple to modify to a players individual tonal preferences.   

The basses inherited all of the sleek and sophisticated design of the revolutionary SR series, packed neatly into a 32” medium scale length. The SR Mezzo’s compact, lightweight body and shorter scale offer effortless playability. The SRMD200 features a Poplar body, several awesome new finishes, and a newly-designed pickguard. A smooth Maple neck and Maple fretboard with medium frets allow for a clear tone and dynamic attack. The on-board electronics consist of an Ibanez Custom 2-band EQ and Ibanez DX P and J pickups. The B10 bridge allows fully adjustable intonation and solid tuning stability.

The Mezzos are easy playing and offer a rich low-end and make hitting the stage a blast every time. No matter the style of music, they’re a perfect fit.
